After coming out of the pandemic we were so pleased to hear from our special guests, Doctors Michael and Darreis Lucien talk about their own personal journey's in the medical field. We were especially thankful for their insight and wisdom helping many others navigate a possible career in medicine. Finally, thank you for fielding general health questions especially regarding mental health.
Thank you to the Kaiser Nurses and Nursing students who came out to vaccinate and inform the community about the importance of vaccinations.
Thank you to those who facilitated the games, prepared snacks, and to CSD for allowing the TOFA Ambassadors swimming for the day! It was a great event.
TOFA 5th Annual Health & Wellness event was held on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Strauss Island in Elk Grove Park. The event theme this year was Finding Fun in Fitness. The program opened by thanking our sponsors, CSD, Kaiser Permanente and Republic Services. Their contribution and support helped made this event possible. The TOFA cultural dancers performed on stage to get the audience energized and ready for some fun.
The participants joined in activities which included a Ninja Warrior Course, CrossFit Course team competition, Touch Rugby, volleyball, and a variety of other competitive games. For the younger children, we had jump houses . The event finished with a Tug-of-War competition.
We want to thank John Mann, Health Fair Event Chair, all the activity leaders, supporters and TOFA Board who helped make this event a success. Our event photos shows that fitness and exercise can, indeed, be fun!
